Thirty members of the Headingley Chamber of Commerce attended the Annual General Meeting that was held at Breezy Bend Country Club on Wednesday, April 17.

In the last year, the membership in the Chamber of Commerce has increased by approximately 20%.  The monthly Chamber luncheons have been well attended.  A new feature at the luncheon is the Business Profile.  Each month a different Chamber business will have the opportunity to highlight and promote their business at the luncheons.  This is a great way to advertise what they do and is just another reason why it is worthwhile to be a member.

The 2019/2020 Headingley Business Directory was mailed to all residences and businesses in the RM of Headingley in January. Unfortunately, it appears that not all households or businesses received their free Directory.  Additional Business Directories are available for pick up at the RM Office, Headingley Library, Headingley Community Centre, Headingley General Store, the MacDonald Recreation Office or by calling the Chamber Office at 204-396-4979.

The Annual Headingley Community Golf Tournament will be held on Thursday, May 30that Breezy Bend Country Club.  It is because of sponsorship received from our valued corporate sponsors that we are able to have such a successful golf tournament. The Headingley Chamber of Commerce will donate to the “Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Scholarship Fund” which is now being managed by the Headingley Foundation. Three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded again this year.  There is still an opportunity to be a sponsor at the tournament and, if you are interested, please call Cyndi at 204-396-4979.  Golf registrations will be accepted until May 25thand the cost is only $175 per golfer.  Registration includes green fees, golf cart, lunch, dinner, tee gift, and on-course giveaways.  It is always a great time and we encourage all community members to come join the fun! If you would like to attend the dinner only, the cost for that option is $50 per person.  Please call Cyndi to register at 204-396-4979.

Mayor John Mauseth gave a brief overview of 2018, highlighting three areas.  He spoke of the municipal election and the two independent studies that were commissioned. Council is currently reviewing the housing study and it will help with the plans for housing moving forward. The RM has just received the transportation study.  A condensed version of this document should be available on their website within the next few weeks.  Mayor Mauseth spoke about the highlights in the 2019 budget, including the capital expenditures, which account for 20% of the overall budget. Part of this budget will fund new fire fighting equipment, an addition to the sewage treatment plant and new public works equipment as well as continuing with the land drainage project and street paving.

A call for nominations for the Board of Directors was made and two people were elected by acclamation.  Joining the Board of Directors are Colby Orchard and David Borowski.
